Hello, and welcome to the Old City
I'm happy someone is up to its history...
Well, Riga is truly named by the similar name of the river, which was called
Riege. As you may know, Riga was Hansa-town based by Germans, so it's title also comes from German. In turn, Riege was named after the island called
RĂ¼gen. They were so long times ago. Riege, or Ridzene, was just about 3 Km long, and later, it was destroyed gravelly.
I suppose, these days just a little
marsh is left from it, and it could be located on the cross roads of Minsterejas str. and Kungu str. in the back yard of the house, where later there was located a workshop of Igor Vasilyev.
Not sure if this is true, I must go over there in the nearest days and check out
report us if you found it.
